1) Probably thinks this is just a free version of That Other Board.
2) You can often look things up yourself. Amtrak Location Map has links to alerts for trains if issued by Amtrak, which often do get attached to trains with long delays.
3) No #2 of the 29th is shown on the map, at any location. That suggests the train was ultimately cancelled and passengers returned to LA on the train or by bus.

Oddball note: the "Niland Geyser" is a patch of mudpots/mud volcanoes just north of Niland that has been encroaching on the UP tracks and adjacent highway for years, requiring frequent mitigation work. Did it perk up last night?
