Thanks for cutting me some slack Watcher. I thought i made it clear the information was from the Trainnews articles. Of course BOB2 whom i respect i might add, will proclaim "Let wait until the official NTSB report is finalized ". Still what's the point of AP if we can't explore and speculate why thinks related to railroading happen. The before and after photos of the damaged bridge offer clues including the probable cause of the fire and the wooden piling supporting the girder section.
