Heck, if you just got stiffed for some wages, you got off easy. I knew a couple of guys, both now deceased, who dropped several million dollars each into the IOU-Pacific experience and came up with not much more than being mentioned on a list of post-bankruptcy stiffed creditors and investors. Maybe the whole thing helped send them to early graves.
The Iowa Pacific experience was, shall we say, "interesting" for a railfan such as myself who experienced it from the sidelines without any financial skin in the game. I was never approached to be an investor and, looking back, that was just fine with me. The sad tale got worse when, eventually, all the investor's money ran out.
Last I heard, EEE was working for United Airlines. There was no one playing guitar in the Park car on this year's
Moonlighter's.
Here's another photo of the train, also taken at Newton, IL.
