Hi John. A GOOGLE search with the key words "Iowa Pacific, Eaton, 800174" revealed the following, along with some photos:
SLRG Eaton - 800174 (ex-PPCX, exx-ICG 15, exxx-IC, exxxx-IC 3310 Mark Beaubien, nee-2189) Mod. HW parlor observation car rblt. from HW coach.
Formerly the Pontchartrain Club - another car with IC genes. It is now back in brown & orange as SLRG 3310 - with its original name.
Sounds to me like the car you saw in Alamosa was not this car. I haven't been to Alamosa in years and it appears that Iowa Pacific rolling stock is scattered in several places.
