I looked at a recent GOOGLE aerial photo of the 125th St. station and it looks like the overhead signal bridge has been removed. This would be consistent with what a friend of mine, Jack Swanberg, a retired trainmaster from Metro-North, told me in that the carrier has done away with all of its wayside signals and everything now relies on PTC and cab signals.
On the subject of Turbo train propulsion, I remember smelling kerosine when one of the United Aircraft Turbo Trains paid a visit to Santa Fe's Surf Line in 1971 when it was on a nationwide tour. It smelled like you were on a tarmac at an airport. I don't seem to recall the Rohr Turbo Trains having that same smell and perhaps they used a different grade of fuel. The Rohr-built trains were patterned from a French design and Amtrak had some of those trains in use on the Chicago-St. Louis run for a while.
