East Broad Top #15

When I was around ten years old, somehow I ended up with a magazine about trains. In that magazine was an article about the East Broad Top and how they were shutting down and abandoning the railroad. To say I was fascinated would be gross understatement. As the years passed, I read or heard things about the EBT but for whatever reason I never got to visit it. My first visit to Pennsylvania in 1976, in fact my first trip East of Denver, did not allow me to get to Orbisonia and the same occurred on several subsequent trip.

Finally, in early June of 2006, fifty years after first hearing about it, I laid eyes upon the EBT. #15, then as now was the only servicable steam locomtive and, of course, they only operate on about 2.5 miles of track, but for two days, I was ecstatic.
