Rich - I understand what you are saying about the time element, rail vs truck. But once rail service is resumed and the cars begin to fill up as they are delivered, that slack will be taken up. And then when you consider one railcar can move as much as 3.5 trucks using less fuel, that will be an advantage.
Additionally, during the winter months, transporting goods by truck over the snow and ice covered Siskiyous can also cause extended delays. This has been a factor considered by TP in the past. My only hope is the situation can be settled in the near future.
I suppose it can all balance out, one way or another. :o)
