New Seattle Light Rail line to get HUGE test on Saturday ……
On Saturday, July 25th, Sound Transit’s new light-rail system will be getting a HUGE test of ridership. For the first time in recent memory, BOTH sport stadiums will be hosting major events at the SAME time.
“Sounders FC” soccer team plays in Qwest Field at 12:00 Noon…
“Seattle Mariners” baseball team plays in Safeco Field, across the street,
at 1:00 PM against the very popular ‘Cleveland Indians’ …
“Seafair Torchlight Parade RUN” : Starts at Qwest Field @ 6:30 PM and eventually finishes back at Qwest Field…
“Seafair Torchlight PARADE” : Starts at the Space Needle at 7:30 pm and finishes up around 10:00 PM at Qwest Field …
The two sport stadiums are across the street from each other on Royal Brougham… With Safeco’s capacity at around 46,000 and a big crowd of Sounder FC soccer fans of possibly 67,000 like last weekend and the “STADIUM” light-rail station only two blocks away… Things should get VERY interesting—REAL quick !!!
The 90+ degree promised HEAT-wave may not hit Seattle til Sunday—otherwise, it would just add to the misery !!
I’m sure they’ll be further reports as they occur!!
Cheers..
