The Last Interurban-Chicago,South Shore & South Bend

It has always been hard for me to pass up anything that runs under wire. As a result, Ben and I backtracked to Michigan City and spent a day shooting the South Shore. Ben had never seen an interurban so it was time well spent.


A Chicago-bound train is stopping just short of the CSS&SB's now closed depot (the white building on the left) to pick up passengers in classic interurban style on Michigan City's 11th St.

This Eastbound train has one more stop next to the South Shore shops as it roll off the East end of the 11th St. trackage.

As a post script---some of the new double-deck cars are on the property and in operation.
