There are some obscure railroad draw bridges. Plus the well known ones. Per the USCG, here is a list of draw bridges used by railroads in northern California. There are more in southern California (think Pacific Harbor RR).

1. Cordelia Slough on UPRR Martinez Subdivision. 24-hr. notice required to open.

2. Mud Slough on UPRR Coast Sub. near Alviso. 24-hr. notice required to open.

3. Newark Slough near Newark, Calif., owned by the San Mateo County Transportation Dept. 24-hr. notice required to open.

4. Pacheco Creek, near Martinez, Calif., on UPRR Mococo Sub. 24-hr. notice required to open.

5. Islais Creek, San Francisco. Muni Railway Third Street rail line. 1-hr. notice required to open. (Note: there may be a new draw span east of Third St. for freight rail use as well.)

6. Fourth Street bridge, San Francisco. Muni Rly. Third Street rail line. 1-hr. notice required to open.

7. Mare Island Strait, Vallejo, on California Northern RR. Opens on signal daytime; 2-hr. advance notice other hours.

8. Brazos on NWP RR. Normally open for navigation, except when trains pass.

9. Petaluma River on NWP RR at Port Sonoma. Normally open for navigation, except when trains pass.

10. Haystack Landing on NWP RR at Petaluma. Normally open for navigation, except when trains pass.

11. Sonoma Creek at Wingo on NWP RR. 24-hr. notice required for openings.

12. Middle River (Calif. Delta) on BNSF. 12-hr. notice required for openings.

13. Old River (Calif. Delta) on BNSF; 24 hour operation.

14. San Joaquin River at Port of Stockton. 12-hr. notice required.

15. Fruitvale Bridge (Alameda-Oakland). 24-hour operation (but no rail service anymore).

16. Eye Street (Sacramento); UPRR. 24-hr. operation.

17. Suisun Bay on UPRR. 24-hr. operation.

18. Dumbarton RR bridge; San Mateo County owns it. Permanently open; no rail service in ages.

19. Mossdale on the San Joaquin River (UPRR) and others similarly located are no longer used for vessel navigation and and not considered draw bridges.
