As of this Sunday, Aug. 30, TriMet's MAX Yellow Line (Portland city Center-Portland Expo Center) will switch from its current route in downtown Portland over to the new light rail alignment along the Transit Mall on 5th and 6th Avenue. The Yellow Line currently uses the east-west alignment on Morrison and Yamhill Street and reverses direction at the SW 11th Avenue layover yard.
At the same time, TriMet will start its funal operational testing for the MAX Green Line, which is scheduled to open Saturday, Sep. 12. TriMet will test the new Green Line schedule between downtown Portland and Clackamas Town Center. The new service will share the Transit Mall alignment with the Yellow Line.
On a down note, TriMet is also implementing several schedule cuts to help reduce its budget deficit. The agency will reduce late-night and early-morning frequencies on its existing Blue Line, Red Line and Yellow Lie routes.
Revised schedules will appear on the TriMet web site at www.trimet.org
