Altamont Commuter Express may drop 4th train

This past Friday some friends and I rode the Altamont Commuter Express for the first time on the mid-day train #07. It was a blast getting to ride on the old WP route over Altamont Pass (never been on it before). I was impressed by the friendliness of the ACE people, and the cleanliness and punctuality of the train. I was even more impressed with the ACE staff who helped us get on board train #7 after we missed the train in Stockton because (1) Amtrak San Joaquin #711 was late into Stockton, and worse, Amtrak forgot to tell ACE that about 15 of us were ticketed through to San Jose via ACE...Will post that big adventure soon.

In a conversation with the conductor, I learned that ACE may/will drop the mid-day train in October 2009. They are accepting comments from the public regarding the service reduction. Click here for more info:

If you haven't been on ACE train #07/#02, better do it soon!
