St. Maries River Railroad

While no "decision" has been made concerning the ultimate future of the Clarkia (logging) line, it is interesting to note that all the empty log cars currently being stored on the line are to be brought into St Maries. Those cars stored at Fernwood and Tyson Creek will be picked up on Thursday, October 1st, and those currently stored at Mashburn and at Alder Creek will be picked up on Tuesday, October 6th. The cars at Fernwood and Tyson Creek were supposed to be picked up today, but a late Union Pacific delivery to Plummer yesterday caused a change of plans. The crew had to go to Plummer today for empty cars, instead of going to Fernwood.

Consideration is being given towards the scrapping of the three hundred plus log cars, but no final decision has been reached by the management.
