In December of 1999, Amtrak ran a Talgo from Los Angeles to Las Vegas. The CEO of Amtrak at the time was George Warrington. I think they parked the train over off Industrial Road near the Rio Hotel. I'm pretty sure that particular trainset has been running on the Cascades service, and you can tell which one is the "Las Vegas set" because the interior colors are different (I think they are red??). I don't remember why it never came to fruition, however.
