"Shortest Streetcar Line" (An Answer for "FF"...)

Last Thursday or so, the elusive poster known as "FF" presented the following question to this audience :

"Perhaps someone knows the exact date. A gloomy Saturday in the winter of 1936- 1937 when a handful of fans gathered to ride the last run of the cemetery car that shuttled all day back and forth just one block at the end of Piedmont Ave.,Oakland between the cemetery and what is now called Pleasant Valley Ave."

The car line that operated this lengthy stretch of TWO blocks (not ONE), was the
# 27 Line.. It was the "shortest" of any line on the Oakland Traction//Eastbay Street Railways,Ltd system.. It ran on a headway of 10-minutes. From the main gate of "Mountain View Cemetary" in Oakland, CA to its connection with the Piedmont Avenue # 10 Line at Pleasant Valley Avenue (aka "Cemetery Junction")...

It was also one of the shortest lived routes. It commenced operations as the
# 27 Line on July 21, 1931. The final day of operation (here you go, "FF"..) was on March
31, 1937 using Car # 385...

As 'Art Baker' once said on TV.... Mr."FF"--- YOU ASKED FOR IT !!!

Cheers.

"Key Route Ken"...
