A while back I wrote SCBT&P and asked them about the line this is the reply --
"Per John Bush SCBT&P will not be buying track. Santa Cruz County is.SCBT&P
might subcontract with WATCO handing freight.
Because CF- 7 not used to cover long distance - they are still in good shape
- will be looking at new power - as needed."
At first I was under the impression that they where going to by the line. Although the plant at Davenport may or may not produce traffic, the SCBT&P still takes center-beam flats of lumber, as well as use the track in front of the Boardwalk. I would say that the line still could be used and they perhaps get a new motive power (a single GP or SD40-2 would do the job. Even though I live in Kansas City, MO, my grandparents lived in Watsonville, and I have been in the area.
