If you look at Dave Sprau's postings on the NP Yahoo group within the last two months or so, he gave a very specific rundown of the last days of operation of trains 675-676 the Auburn-Sumas time freight (143-144 post merger) as well as 932-931 Auburn Bellingham Local. Basically Getchell hill on the old Sumas line died within 30 days of the BN merger and the Sumas train started running thru Everett. Not long after that train 143-144 started using the NP-GN coast line thru Everett, Delta Jct, Kruse Jct to Arlington and then north. Again not long after that change, they started running Auburn-Burlington-Sedro Wooley-Sumas and that was end of the NP from north Arlington to Sedro Wooley as a thru route. In addition the Bellingham-Wickersham branch died within days of 3-3-70 per Dave's notes and the NP agent went to the GN depot at Bellingham.
