If memory serves me correctly the C&TS is basically 70 lb rail from Antonito to just east of Osier, and 85 lb rail from there to Chama. The 70 lb rail is largely without tie plates except on curves, the 85 lb rail is I believe fully plated. Going back to DRGW days the rail from Chama west was 70 lb. There may be some lighter rail on some of the sidings. In the early days of RGRPC management of the C&TS, arrangements were made for the donation of U.S. government owned 90 lb rail that was being salvaged in the Denver area (Denver Arsenal???), with transportation donated by the National Guard. Seems to me there was several miles of 90 lb rail involved. Early on some of the 90 lb rail was used to replace 70 lb rail on some of the sharper curves, don't know how much of the 90 lb rail has been laid since then. This is done from memory, corrections welcome.
