At least this depot survives, unlike the original Penn Station across the North River in Manhattan. If it had remained standing, it would have been 100 years old in 2010.

Fortunately, once the rail station project is complete in the old Post office building across 8th Avenue from the rabbit warren that is today's Penn Station, New York City will once again have two monumental rail gateways to the rest of the U.S.

Incidentally, the architectural firm that designed the General Post Office, McKim, Meade and White, is the same one that designed the first Pennsylvania Station.
