What troubles me when I roam around on the Google Satellites, are the large manufacturing complexes, steel mills and such, that are obviously inactive and defunct. You can tell these because there are no cars, trucks, or junk anywhere around - just plain nothin!

In places like the San Francisco Bay Area, these are too numerous to even count. Just dead factory after dead factory. You also see this back east in a lot of places - like Pittsburgh and Philly. So Cal seems a bit better off, but not by much.

I first noticed this even before the depression (er - recession) started. Sometimes it gets me so demoralized I just quit surfing the satellite pictures. We must be selling our souls to China or some place! How else can you account for this, when the stuff these places and workers made is still available here - as if nothing happened.
