What happened to all Amtraks P40's 800-840?

I hear Amtrak is having loco shortages
Many Intercity trains are not running three units during the winter months
What happened to the P40's?
I know a few have been scrapped from wrecks
I cant believe they are just sitting rusting when they could be used
They used the old F-40s for many years (still the best passenger loco ever made)
