A short section of the branch still exists on the Wendel end of the line, and is known as the Susanville Industrial Lead - a UP term. It has been (or will soon be) acquired by the Lassen Valley Railway, who also has applied to acquire the portion of the Modoc line between Wendel and a connection with UP near Flanigon. Another company called Nevada Central has also filed with the STB to acquire these lines, causing some commotion. It's been interesting reading the charges and counter-charges in the filings (they're available on the STB's web site); they're worthy of a shoot-out in the middle of Main Street at high noon.

Quincy used ex-SP TR6A #1100 when they operated the line. It's now in the museum at Portola.
