Brian,

As I recall, which isn't always accurate, when I took this they were filming the #3 coming downhill. The #44 was out of sight and would then couple up and pull the train back uphill.
Security was provided by a constable from one of the now gone local justice courts. As long as you stayed quiet and out of the way, they let you observe.
