How complicated is it to build a railroad today? It should not be difficult.

The main problems are consultants, politicians, and general do-nothings that have to get paid. A simple light rail project cannot even be constructed for anything less than billions of dollars and years of discussion.

Let the HSR agency do their thing at our great expense. Maybe someday we'll have that money-making system of passenger trains between SF, Sacto. and LaLaLand. (Yeah, it is supposed to make money.)

There must have been more incentive and fewer obstacles in building the transcontinental railroad in 1869. That masterpiece continues to serve us well today.
