People could take the City of New Orleans to Chicago or New Orleans from Memphis, but there aren't really direct routes via Amtrak to east or west. Going to St. Louis would entail going to Chicago and then backtracking to St. Louis. At one time, Amtrak had a St. Louis section of the City of NO, but that is long gone.

For Greyhound to not allow a ticketed passenger to use its waiting room (unless the person is drunk or being disruptive) is ridiculous. I think I'd call the cops and see what they said. Paying customers are not "trespassing".
