The radio station where I worked had studios in San Mateo, CA, adjoining the SP tracks in 1951. The studios were less than soundproof. A 4:30 PM newscast regularly included the sound of the inbound Daylight blowing for nearby grade crossings. In those days the Daylight was almost always on time. The station sold a small commercial schedule to SP identifying the Daylight from Los Angeles as on time as usual followed by a short spot promoting taking the train.
