I spoke with the UPRR MTM out of Tehachapi, he says there is a pretty good fire in tunnel 9 and some smoldering in tunnel 10.
The KCFD is evacuating folks out of the immediate area of the fire to move them to an evac point at Tehachapi, and the fire dept is trying to let the fire burn itself out. Apparently there are some ethanol tankers in the consist. I am downwind of the location at Hart Flat and paying real close attention. Word is they have HWY 58 closed as well. I also heard the Keene Helitack crew copter 408 is overhead onscene.
My work involves some of the equipment in the area so I will be very busy next week playing cleanup to keep DPU trains moving through the loop there at Walong.
