It was the 1st railroad track laid in Seattle, circa 1974. Originally the Seattle & Walla Walla, it later became part of the Pacific Coast RR. Used to bring coal from mines in Renton & Newcastle to tidewater at Elliott Bay, it crossed at a right angle to the current BNSF mainline right where King St. Station is currently located. The South 1/2 mile is used to store grain cars waiting to be unloaded at an industry along the old UP / MILW leads to Union Station, Northwest of Airport Way overpass.
