In the late 80s and early 90s I lived in Patterson, CA on SPs then Westside Line. These are some images from that area at that time:
UP SW10 1234 filling in for an ailing Alco S6 at the Foster Farms Silos between Patterson and Turlock in the winter of 1990-91.
SP Kodachrome Geep 3778 on the westside hauler switching cars at Westley, CA in January 1991.
On Feb. 20, 1989 a blockage on Southern Pacific’s valley route caused the SP to reroute many trains from the valley line to the then seldom used west side line. Here, SP SD40R 7373 leads a westbound west side freight past the water tower at Westley, CA. Note the former Southern high nose SD45 in the consist.
Hope you like these. As always, corrections, more information and any other comments are appreciated.
