Thank God for Kodak date stamps and numbers

I was poking through some of my old slides over the past few days and ran across this one:

A train to......?????

Okay, I knew it was Burlingame. It was south (or east) bound. And the date stamp was August 1958. Obviously one of the last specials with the 4460. It was easy to assume it was the 4460's run to Watsonville Junction with a Suntan Special, which I had ridden. But then I checked some of my pix of the 4460 at WJ and they were dated July. Then I looked at some other slides from the same role. First there was 98 with an orange and black PA, then a passenger extra led by two geeps, then the 4460. Hmmm. Finally I dug into some old Western Railroaders and found an "steam powered" trip to Monterey advertised. This must be it. Presumably the extra pax with the diesels was the Suntan.

Without those Kodak date stamps and frame numbers I would have been lost.
