Nice pic, Drew. As far as preservation organizations getting together, one has only to look over at Brightside to see what GGRM's presence has done for PLA/NCRY(though it was by necessity). Having a few more locomotives/cars(especially exSP) including the 2472 for "SP Big Steam" runs up and down Niles Canyon as well as if not more importantly eager and willing people is testament that this CAN work. Just my $.02 worth.
