UP Hi Railer observed this morning on Mather Spur

I go by the dormant section of the Mather Spur daily, I am referring to the section crossing Highway 50 here in Rancho Cordova on a overpass connecting from the UP Placerville Branch to Mather Field Airport. All of the crossing gates and flashers on this portion of the spur, the southernmost part south of Highway 50 have long since been removed and replaced by crossbucks with "Exempt" signs attached, however the rail appears to be still in place thru the crossings and into the airport. The northern end of the spur, closest to the branch line still gets occasional use as there is a building supply dealer that receives bulkhead flats and boxcars of lumber. This morning at 7am there were two UPRR hi railers parked on the spur closest to where it crosses Old Placerville Road into the airport just north of the crossing. Three men were bent over the rail and were examining the joints with a truck mounted spotlight shining on the area in question. It would sure be nice if the County of Sacramento may be finally getting a customer for the spur on the airport property, Id love to see trains using the overpass which had to have cost millions and has rarely been used since the freeway was finished a while ago.
