Several companies will rent a storage container for tool and material storage. Store ALL tools and materials outside the structure being restored. Also it is pretty much impossible to have too many fire extinguishers on site, and one should be at each worksite as if it were a member of the crew. ABSOLUTELY NO SMOKING IN THE RESTORATION AREA!!!!!!!!. It would also be a good idea to contact the local fire dept., keep them aprised of your efforts and ask for any advice they have on fire prevention. A well informed response is more effective than a bunch of guys that have NO idea what is inside. Some municipalities and MOST insurance companies are now requiring a fire sprinkler system be installed as part of any restoration. Most of the things that are being preserved and renovated are made of unobtainium , Loose it and it is gone forever. Be carefull.
