UP still uses switchers - mostly MP15s, but there's an odd SW-1500 found on occassion - at Albina Yard. I believe Barnes Yard now exclusively uses GPs. And there's a MP or SW that still runs down to Oregon City to serve the paper mill industrial track; but I don't think Brooklyn has had a SW (no problem, just head another mile or so south on McLoughlin, turn right on Ochoco and you'll see plenty of switchers of the 567 powered variety.)

BNSF is pretty much all GP - except for the job that switches the Guilds Lake area; they still use a SW-1000 for that due to a lot of sharp curves. However track in that area has been steadily cut back as the industries change over into companies that don't need rail service; just as the industrial spurs on 13th and 14th Avenues have been replaced by swank Pearl District condos and "creative" businesses.

As OPRRMS stated, SP had been starting to purge the switcher fleet; whereas 20, 30, 40 years ago a SW-1500 would have been easily spotted in Salem or Albany, they were long ago replaced by GPs. Heck, SP was running a GP60 (!!!) as a local switcher in Hillsboro in the weeks before P&W took over.
