They don't need to cut service. They don't need to raise fares. What they need to do is get rid of their top heavy management. Fire their oversupply of overpaid slugs that leach money out of the coffers faster than oil is leaking into the gulf and don't contribute a damn thing other than run up the printing bill creating business cards.
When they opened the new maintainence facility, one big waste of money, I counted over a dozen managers, directors, and other assorted deadwood all of whom draw six figure salaries to do nothing more than fill the empty space of a white hard hat. If the State needs to find additional funds for CalTrain, take it from the appointed scum trying to saddle us with the idiotic idea of high speed rail or take it from all the "studies" (probably done over $100.00 per plate lunches) about electrifying a railroad that doesn't need to be electric.
Maybe they need to look back at how many managers (or officers in SP-speak) that ran that railroad before the state got their grubby yet gold-platted hands on it.
