It is astounding how quick a human can jump! But that sure does bring back a couple of painful memories!

It's just way way too easy to get complacent - or too dammed involved in your work.

I should know, having had a couple of oh-sh.t moments myself! One was our own darn fault (yep, it too was a switch inspection) - resulted in both of us doing reverse backwards somersaults across the subgrade just in the nick of time! The other one was a train (thankfully only a few cars long) violating our clocktime in a tunnel. And thank goodness I was on direct fixation with deep enough drainage channels between the rails - no where else to go and no time to get there - had to just drop.

Fortunately, those two strikes were nearly thirty years ago. The third strike would've done it for sure. But I guess I should hold off on the complacency a bit longer - I ain't quite retired yet.
