I agree. Look at the utility that CP and VIA have received from the 1955 stainless steel equipment that was built for "The Canadian."
Of course, if Amtrak insists, through its internal study, that any resurrection of service(s) would require all new equipment, it will go a long way in making sure that the project never gets off the ground.
