The International Port of Coos Bay is set to ask The Surface Transportation Board this week for permission to reopen a portion of the Coos Bay Rail Line.
Port Spokesman Martin Callery say repairs to the troubled tunnels along the line will be soon be completed, allowing some trains once again to move over the line.
If approved by Federal regulators the line would be re-opened from Eugene to Bolan Island at Gardiner to serve the American Bridge Company.
The Port would like that section of the line to be re-opened by the end of this summer after selecting an interim rail operator for that segment.
