As Sammie has said before, in most cases little public monies support the Shortlines SP spun off, these were intact and operating and have a traffic base to build on. The NWP on the other hand has lost its traffic base and it will have to be Field of Dreams and the NWP is not a flat Iowa cornfield but a Up hill, down hill, fall off in the river railroad, so with the Mind set of the North Coast, I doubt if they build it traffic will come. SP left due to the excessivve costs to maintain the line vs less and less revenue each that was generated. And by the way some of branch lines SP sold off with the downturn of the lumber business this year they will be hard pressed to make a good return on the investment, or be able to do much in the way of track repairs and normal maintainance. YES YELL LOUD THE TERMINATOR NEEDS TO TERMINATE THE NCRA AND USE THE MONEY FOR BETTER THINGS.
