Thanks for the answer Fred. I always thought that the PCC style foot controls were more intuitive in their operation, being closer to automotive controls than a lever on a panel. The PCC patents were pretty strictly enforced and I would not have been surprised if that had some bearing on the choice of design. As a sidebar to this , Are the patents still valid?
