I know I am not really answering your question, but it hits at the more basic question that I know often gets asked...

Why not just build GMC New Look busses again (nothing built today is as reliable)?

Why not just buld Volkswagen Beetles again (nothing today seems to get the gas mileagage or can be fixed by a high school student with a wrench)?

What not just build PCC cars again (today's LRVs cost millions more and seem to breakdown constantly)?

Frankly, why not build GP9s instead of fooling around with Gensets?

Well, of course there are environmental concerns and accessibilty concercens and OSHA cocnerns (and probably a thousand other concerns), and yet... still I wonder if those couldn't be dealt with? Hmmmm....


It's a question for greater minds than mine.
