NS is hoping to (finally) replace the classic Erie trestle at Letchworth State Park (the Grand Canyon of the East) located in the NW part of NY in the near(?) future due to structural issues and capacity.
The current steel trestle was built in 1875 and replaced a wooden trestle built by the Erie in 1852 which was destroyed in a fire that same year. It is still in use today.
The new bridge will support an industry standard 286,000 lbs per rail car and will be an arch span.
Get your pics now and remember to stop at the near by Arcade and Attica Steam line if you go.
