"Seriously? So where are you getting that color-dyed Tri-X developed? Maybe you could add a K-14 machine to the lab in your garage...you know, for posterity..."

Hey dude, you know my wife--the last thing Liz needs is more "posterity" stored in our garage or the "archive" attached to my darkroom!

Like all of the soon-to-be-retired Kodachrome shooters, I'll be shipping the KR64 off to Dwayne's in Parsons, Kansas. $10 a roll for 36 exposures, plus another $5 if you want it scanned to a CD at the time of processing. There's just 12.5 rolls of KR64 in my freezer to begin with (plenty of unprocessed TX and TMAX, though)--there's only so much I'll can do with those last few rolls.

Not sure what to expect from this. My last KR shooting was the Sierra Railroad log trains in 2003--the ".5" of a roll is one I pulled out of a camera in April '03 after shooting the final logger. This film is left over from that project. With expiration dates in 2004, the stuff should be nicely aged, and it HAS been frozen the past 6 years. Back in the day, the general understanding was that the closer Kodachrome was to its expiration date, the better, since "fresh" KR still wasn't completely "cured". It was hard to tell in those last years of Kodak processing. I gave up shooting slide film after suffering through the crap that Kodak was squeezing out in '03.

So, we'll see how things work out. If the first couple of test rolls suck, I can easily walk away from this project--it can't be real involved if it DOES come together. A couple of one-day trips will pretty much wipe out the stash. Hopefully, it'll be a nice way to say goodbye to an old friend from Rochester.
