I was at Jack London Square this afternoon and noticed a lot, and I mean A LOT of panel track sitting in two groups at both ends of the square. All new rail, some short sections, and some very long welded sections, all on brand new wood ties. There was at least one turnout in the group south of the Amtrak station.

There was also a very large collection of concrete grade crossing panels stacked up by the Market Street grade crossing. Looks to me like they're replacing the track in the street running section. Does anyone know if they plan on redoing the approaches to the station like they did at EMY? That might explain the turnout. Does anyone have any general info on this project?
