I rode Amtrak #535 through this area Sat. PM. I think what's going on is a general rehab and upgrade of track North and South of the JLS station in conjunction with the rebuild and upgrade of I-880 (Nimitz Fwy.) between Oak St. and High St. The section with track in the pavement, JLS north to about Adeline was long over due for rehab (my opinion) and the work south of JLS is in conjunction with upgrade and modernization of the oldest section of I-880 in the Bay Area.
