The deadhead dome is an ex - Santa Fe Pleasure Dome. I rode in one in revenue service, on the Starlate in August of 1979 as part of my all - Amtrak return trip from Billings, MT. I thought the individual swiveling seats in the dome were cool. The lunch counter diner ( ex - SP ??? ) was a godsend for me as I was almost broke by then. Great memories of my 1st big train trip.
