Admittedly a little "off track" here but WP, outnumbered by the UP something like 105 to 7 on the 4-6-6-4 types, nonetheless had bigger machines with 1" larger cylinders and 1" larger diameter drivers, 70" vs. 69". They were classesd by the WP as M-100's owing to their t.e. of 99 thousand & some odd lbs., just a few lbs. away from 100,000. Impressive machines that led a somewhat short secretive life away from cameras. This was out on the East end of the railroad account their using coal as fuel.
