Once upon a time, I was at Bealville, and I decided to drive over to a little spot on a rise south of the Bealville crossing. The ground there was pretty waterlogged, and I decided to drive through what looked like a large puddle in my Subaru WRX wagon with AWD. Got into the puddle about half way and I began bogging down, as it turned out to be a damn mudhole. Decided not to go further, popped it into reverse and floored it. All wheels spinning, slowly moving backwards, all the while smelling my clutch going up in smoke! Spent an hour in Tehachapi cleaning mud off the car that night. I'm amazed I had clutch left.
