Most of South Hills trackage is still in place or reconstructed into light rail lines. The South Busway is just 4.3 miles long whereas the entire rail system is about 25 miles. The only South Hills line from the 1970s not in service is the 1.9-mile Drake Line.

Avoiding the night owl service is easy since both South Hills bus and rail service ends around 1:00 am and does not resume until 4:30 am or 5:30 am.

The line to the North Shore will open in 2012.
