A new spur is being constructed near the Oregon Pacific Railroad’s East Portland Yards. The Oregon Rail Heritage Foundation will apparently use this spur to store its Holiday Express train after the event is over this year, since it can't be stored at the Brooklyn Roundhouse. At some point in the near future, this spur will become part of the OPR’s new East Portland Yards, when ORHF moves to its new property and the OPR yards have to be relocated as part of the Milwaukie Light Rail project. As a result, the OPR is overseeing the construction of this spur. Shortline Sammie could probably tell more, if anyone has any questions.
In background, on the far UP main, is UP southbound, moving slow, while an Amtrak southbound overtakes on the closer main. The center track is the part the current OPR interchange/yard, with three empties waiting for UP to pick up. In the foreground is the new ORHF spur being constructed.
Photo taken this afternoon. Thanks for viewing.
